
High Protein Cottage Pie
A high-protein twist on classic comfort food. Turkey and lean beef mince with mushrooms, leek, carrot and celery blended right in, topped with a quick mash and a simple homemade gravy. 33g protein, ~375 kcal per portion. Makes 8, great for batch cooking and freezing.

Ingredients
- 500 g turkey mince
- 500 g beef mince, 5% fat
- 3 celery sticks
- 2 large carrots
- 500 g mushrooms
- 1 large leek
- 1 kg Rooster potatoes, skin on
- 2 beef stock cubes
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh oregano, rosemary, sage and parsley
- 1 heaped tbsp cornflour
- 1 cup low-fat or dairy-free milk
- 2 tbsp olive or vegetable oil, for frying
Method
- 1Fry the turkey and beef mince in a large pan until browned.
- 2Finely chop the celery, carrots, mushrooms and leek and fry until softened, then mix through the cooked mince.
- 3Make the mash your usual way. The easiest option is to microwave the potatoes, skin on, for about 10 minutes, then blend with the milk, herbs, salt and pepper.
- 4Make a gravy with the cornflour and beef stock cubes, and stir it through the mince and vegetables.
- 5Spoon the mince mixture into a baking dish and top with the mash.
- 6Bake at 180°C for 30 minutes.
- 7Let it settle for a few minutes before serving.
